2 Ways to Improve Your Putting Aim.

Golfers of all playing abilities ask for help in aiming their putts. After all, improving putting aim is the key to making more putts.  In this month's video golf tip, I share two critical tips for improving your putting aim: 1) Get behind the ball, and 2) Look beyond the hole. Using the Line.

Most of the PGA and LPGA players use a line on their ball to aim.  By aiming the line on the ball and aiming from behind the ball, we are using our binocular vision, which we use for aiming.  Golf is the only sport that we play sideways on, and so we need help in aiming.  When we stand sideways on to putt and don't have a line to help us, we get an optical illusion of aiming.  Missed putts are the result.

Looking beyond the hole.

To never leave putts short, always look beyond the hole while doing your practice strokes to determine how hard we need to hit a putt. For example, I normally like to look about 12" past the hole, then walk in, place the line on my putter, and match the ball's line.  Then make the stroke.  I do not want to look up once I have aimed the putter.
