Understanding Clubhead Path and Clubface Angle!
Hi, I’m Mel Sole, Director of Instruction at the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC. We conduct 1, 2, and 3-day golf schools, hourly golf lessons, and senior golf schools—any golf instruction program your heart desires. Give us a call at 800-624-4653 or 843-237-4993. We will be happy to book a commuter school or a package that contains accommodations, golf, and golf school.
While you are practicing, pay attention to both the direction the ball takes off. And the direction that the ball curves. The ball will be traveling in the direction of the club head angle. And the ball will curve depending on the clubhead path. If the ball takes off straight and curves off to the right (a common shot for right-handed golfers), you know that the clubface angle was square at impact, and the clubhead path was moving to the left. The clubface was open to the clubhead path.
If the clubface is open at impact, the bill will take off to the right. However, if the clubhead path is cutting across the ball, a big slice will result.
I have several dills on this website to cure both hooking and slicing. In the search field at the top of this page, type in your problem, and tips will come up to help you with your problem,
Come and see me at Pawleys Plantation as a hands-on lesson or 3-day school is much better than trying to fix this problem by yourself!
