Monthly Golf Tips by the Mel Sole Golf School.

In this month's video golf tip, Mel Sole describes the common causes of over swinging and provides some corrective drills.

The Causes.

Most golfers think that they can hit the golf ball a lot further to take the backswing.  Nothing can be further from the truth. When a golfer overswings, he loses control of both distance and direction.  The secret is in the width of the golf swing.  You gain much more accuracy along with no loss of power if your golf swing is wider, not longer!

The Cures.

Make sure the hands finish as far away from your head as possible. Then, keep the lead arm straight without moving your head to create the desired coil.

Keep your elbows fairly close together at the top of the backswing.  The combination of the elbows close and the hands extended out will immediately cure the overswing.

Now that you know How to Correct an Overswing.  Go out and have some fun once again!
