Most golfers slice, and when it is necessary to hit a draw (moving the ball from right to left for a right-hander), they are really stuck behind the 8-ball (or, in this case, the tree). This is the very first way I learned to hit a draw when I was a beginner. I used to stand on the range and hit draw after draw. I was not very accurate in the beginning. But through perseverance, I eventually hit the draw to end up where I wanted it to. Obviously, you do not use the alignment sticks while you are hitting the ball. This is so that you get the picture! Get it?
Method.
Here is a way to move the ball from right to left when you need it.
In picture #1, I need to hit a draw around the tree. I line up to the right of the tree (the direction I want the ball to start). I aim my clubface at my target (in this case, the tree trunk).
Here is a close-up of this situation:
Now go ahead and make your normal swing. The ball starts where you are aiming and draws to the target.
This is for those of you who have had difficulty drawing a ball in the past. This is a fairly easy way to accomplish it without actually changing your swing. Try it on the range before you attempt it on the course to know how the ball will react.
