Understand what to do when you have interference on your backswing with anything fixed or growing.  Save strokes on the course by knowing the rules!

Bending Anything Fixed or Growing.

On the golf course, a player cannot bend or break trees, bushes, long grass, etc.  Quite many golfers do not know this rule, and in error, bend back branches of trees that are in their way during the swing.   Rule 8 covers this very clearly.

Making the shot easier.

When the golfer makes the shot easier by moving or bending anything in their way, there will be a one-shot penalty.  There is a reason why the golf course is filled with trees and bushes.  To make the course more challenging.  If we remove these objects or bend them out of the way, it defeats the game's whole intention.  When you find yourself in a tough situation with a tree or a bush in the way of your golf swing, figure out a way (carefully) to swing the club without disturbing whatever is in your way.
